I think the best memory I have of Ralph Moore was his generosity. He shared so much with all of us - his time, his energy, his knowledge. He loved to show you "how to do it" when you visited him at his nursery. And best of all - he shared his breeding lines many times with other hybridizers.
Mr. Moore was truly in love with roses - and he wanted others to succeed with breeding roses too. My recent research into his line of striped seedlings caused me great admiration for his selflessness when I saw how many of the hybridizers of today asked for budwood or pollen and proceeded to create their own lines of striped roses using Ralph's seedlings.
Ralph Moore - you were what it is all about! The Spirit of the Rose.
