Notes:
Hortense de Beauharnais, daughter of the Empress Josephine, was born April 10, 1783 and died October 5, 1837. In 1802, she became the wife of Louis Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon and king of Holland from 1806-10. They had three sons before they separated in 1810. It's been suggested that the father of the third son, Napoleon III, was someone other than Louis. Hortense had a fourth child illegitimately, the Duc de Mornay (1811-65) who served Napoleon III as an advisor.
