Hybrid Perpetual.  Carmine-pink, dark red center.  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.   Jean Cherpin (1853).

Gallica / Provins.  Purple - red.  Or pink shaded purple.  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  USDA zone 4b through 8b.   Unknown Dutch origin (1790).

Gallica / Provins, Hybrid China.  Crimson, purple shading.  Moderate fragrance.  Medium, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  USDA zone 4b through 8b.  Height of 39" to 4' (100 to 120 cm).  Width of up to 3' (up to 90 cm). Jean-Pierre Vibert (1830).

Bourbon.  Red, crimson shading.  Medium to large, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters, flat bloom form.   Jacques Lebougre (1842).

Gallica / Provins.  White, purple streaks, stripes, flecks, pink stripes.  Strong fragrance.  Medium, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, expanded , flat bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  USDA zone 4b through 8b.  Height of 30" to 4' (75 to 120 cm).   Jean-Pierre Vibert (1837).

Bourbon.  Crimson - scarlet.  Medium, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  USDA zone 5b through 10b.   François Fontaine (père) (1852).

Moss.  Deep pink or purple blend, darker center, light pink edges.  Large, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  USDA zone 4a through 5b.  Height of up to 42" (up to 105 cm).  Width of up to 2' (up to 60 cm). Adam Paul (1780-1847) (1847).

Hybrid Perpetual.  Crimson, carmine-red shading.  Very full (41+ petals), rosette bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  USDA zone 6b and warmer.   Victor Trouillard (1856).

Moss.  White.  Medium to large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.
