Origin:
Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), 1909).
Introduced in Germany by Peter Lambert in 1909 as 'Zigeunerknabe'.
Class:
Bourbon, Hybrid Multiflora.  
Bloom:
Violet and red.  Mild fragrance.  Medium to large, full (26-40 petals), cluster-flowered, flat bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Upright.  

Height: 3' to 5'11" (90 to 180cm).  Width: 3' to 4' (90 to 120cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 3b through 9a.  Hardy.  very vigorous.  Prune after flowering is finished.  This rose blooms on old wood.
