Our backyard, July 2012. On the trellis to the right, Sympathie; on the far angles of the triangular bed in the centre, New Dawn (right, two flowers visible, planted November 2011) and Paul's Scarlet Climber (left, ditto); on the left, in the shadow of the Firethorn, Crépuscule, planted also in November 2012 as Apple Blossom (I got the wrong rose from the nursery). Eventually we hope to get some sort of a series of arches or a pergola along the porch covered with these roses; seems a long way off.
On the right, before the ugly grey garage, R. pendulina, R. multiflora, R. rugosa and R. villosa. Between the shrubs along the fence there are more species roses, mainly R. canina, R. rugosa, and one unidentified rose that might be either canina or arvensis, not sure yet, and Seagull, planted this spring, eventually supposed to grow over the fence.
