March 19, 2017 in Claremont, California. Plant came from Burlington Roses in the summer of 2013. After growing this rose since 2013, I have questions about the listed parentage. The foliage looks very rugosa-like to me. Foliage is much bigger than on hugonis, although maybe there is some hugonis, because the foliage does have some resemblance, it is just the leaves appear to have much more rugosa influence. The flowers will crisp in the sun. The fragrance smells like maybe old rose, damasky type, with a hint of something else I can't quite place. I do not smell any linseed oil scent like I do on R. alabukensis, R. borissovae, or R. fedschenkoana. It is something else. Someone with a better nose needs to give it a whiff! Rose seems happy on very light infrequent applications of fish emulsion or an E. B. Stone organic powdered fertilizer (5-5-5) which is the only food he's had this year.
