12th-year own-root Evelyn is VERY healthy & vigorous as own root.
NEVER see RMV, rust, mildew, blackspots (like Abraham Darby). My OWN-ROOT blooms are shallower & flatter thus fast repeat, with powerful old rose and fresh peach scent & 100 petals. Young canes and thorns are reddish. Leaves are dark green and glossy with acidic rain, but become PALE with my alkaline tap water at pH 9. Phosphorus fertilizer or manure makes Evelyn blooms pinkish. But Evelyn turns more peachy with high potassium fertilizer in my dense & heavy clay.
