Hello from the US Margaret. Thank you for checking with Mr. Rustin about Sabrina HT 1960. It breaks my heart that she is gone from his collection. I have such a hard time finding and saving so many older HT's that exist somewhere, but no where apparent. When I visited David's place, he let me take the old van and the "Bibles" with me. They were his location books. I was in shock. Couldn't believe what I was seeing alive! No way to get them tho. Please tell David that I would suggest he place those "Bibles" into a local Library or museum for posterity when he is through with them. He is such an historic figure in the rose world! That way, they will be available for research in the future. I managed to find "Summer Rainbow" 1966, and recently, "Miss Canada" 1963! Thank God they didn't get away from us, but it's taken 30 years to find them! Still looking for the HT Volcano, Moro 1950. The great "Lady Zia", Parks 1959 continues to elude me as well. The sports of Peace, Dallas and Speaker Sam exist due to recent photo's of them, but cannot locate the plants. It's heartbreaking. But the JOY when I get one! Wish I could order from Trewellyn!! Lot's of interesting varieties there!! My best to you and to Mr. David Rustin. Jason Derer

David Ruston protects the roses in his own garden, which include many pre-1970 HTs and floribundas, but the commercial part of the property is under new ownership and out of his control. He is very actively involved with the young Tea-Noisette-China Collection, and the newly-planted Early HT, Pernetiana and Polyantha Collections, which are within the commercial part of the property. They're under the wing of Heritage Roses in Australia; I guess the HRiAI library might be the place for the Location Books in due course.
When I can be distracted from those Collections, I document some of the HTs etc with the camera, as do others. Have a look at Tapestry, a Peace seedling. But I get bored with orange floribundas!
Will pass on your greetings.

There is no earthly reason why this fine climbing HT should be gone! I purchased mine from Edmunds and it's blooms are huge. The flowers resemble Flaming Peace and it does have split centers at times. I no longer have this plant and cannot seem to find one.
If anyone knows where there is one, please post a source of cuttings or plants. Edmunds catalogs from the mid 1980's have a picture of this rose in them.

Isn't it aweful, the reuse of rose names! I recently ordered and rec'd the HT Grand Gala which I have been looking for for aeons! The 1954 ish one. Discovered that Roses of the Desert near me had what they thought was it. But alas, it is either the 1965 or the new version of an HT with the same name! At lease that mistake has been corrected. It is very disturbing when this happens for everyone.

This HT was growing at David Rustin's in Renmark AUS in January 2000 when I visited there. He has since retired. Do not know if the plant still exists.

No, it isn't there now, but David Ruston says it was a poor grower.
