Adélaide d'Orléans is one of my absolute favourite roses. Why? Simple - it seems to thrive on neglect and rewards any pampering, doesn't care if it rains (which in the UK does matter alot!), is pretty disease resistant, and the evergreen or near evergreen foliage is attractive. The flowering is profuse and astoundingly beautiful, it is vigorous (mine has scaled 12 feet up a tree and covered it in 18 months with ease), easy to train, and the scent (to me) is medium strong, refind and delicious. What more could I ask? It really should be in every single garden.

Was interested to note on blooms on our plant this year that it features sepals as per the Dog Rose - 2 plain, 2 bearded, and one with one side bearded and the other plain. Does this point to a possible R. Canina heritage? It would explain the almost briar-like shape, height and vigour of this rose.

Hi,
I recently added this plant and noticed the sepals, so I was very interested to read your take on them as a potential indicator of canina ancestry.
I just uploaded a pic of a hip forming on my Lark Ascending which shows the sepals following the barbed/plain/half-barbed pattern.
This is an OP hip that was already on the plant when I received it, so I don't know what the pollen parent was, but if it's a self-pollination it might reveal some more clues.

Thank you! She continues to bloom at the expense of building up much foliage, still only 6-8” tall. I just moved her outdoors last week, and I probably should nip off the buds, but I can’t bring myself to do it.

That's a lovely photo of her too. Shows a lot of promise I think. Love the shade of pink, and with that shape of bud its off to a great start! No, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to de-bud her either.
I've just seen that you are fairly new to this rose breeding lark - welcome to the club! I too dabble as an amateur (for about 7 years now), in my case with grand dreams of all the new varieties of Old Roses that I want to bring about. I don't profess to be anything like an expert, but if there is anything I can help with anytime, feel free to ask.

I read your public journal, and there are some great OGR crosses there. You should register as a breeder and post some photos!

Thank you, you're too kind! Well I hope to add some in due course, but as yet I haven't any that have matured to a level that I would be happy to include, as I was waiting for the finished article so to speak - I even have one or two stubborn ones that are 3 or 4 years old and still haven't flowered yet!! But I do have a few that are coming on nicely, including some Bourbon style roses that seem to be doing very well from last year, so fingers crossed.
