Spring spot flowering (2023-10-02). I remember there was a bit of a heat wave around then, and it melted. Colour isn’t as saturated in person.

First blooms of the cutting Margaret Furness sent me around 2018/19 (2022-11-15). Has gotten a bit bigger since then but the habit of long canes with tufts of leaves on the end is more or less the same. I’ve found it sometimes it will try to push basal shoots in the middle of summer which isn’t great because the foliage is quite thin and turns to a crisp if there’s a heatwave (I usually just move it to the shade if I think it’ll get too hot). Likes to spot flower, blooms smell delicious but if it’s hot they just melt. (Sydney, Zone 10)

At Vaucluse House (2023-10-02). This is probably as nice as it’d look in Sydney. The pleasure garden is in a sort of gully so plenty of moisture; from memory the plant at Rumsey is a lot more gawky.

Gawky Dr Seuss thing, prone to dieback/stems can get sunburnt (2023-10-09). Not for impatient persons (but I’ve learnt to be _very_ patient with any hybrid perpetuals in my Sydney climate). Cutting from Margaret Furness around 2018-19.
