In my humble opinion one of the best performing Austins (as a climber)!

It can be splendid so long as it gets enough water to keep it's blooms upright. Those large flowers do tend to droop when the plants are stressed. 'Evelyn' is a better choice for hot and dry climates, but both are excellent cultivars.

This year and the last we had a lack of rainfall, very high temps and lots of sun... This one kept on blooming as a climber (if drooping, it wouldn't bad at all) and stayed healthy. The other Austins bloomed once and merely survived in a green, but dormant state. No second or third etc. flushes.

I love the deep pink colors of your Abraham Darby. Nearby rose park (alkaline clay) their Abraham Darby is always beige, even in cold weather. How do you fertilize your Abraham Darby? Thanks.

Straw, have you found Abe needs special attention to keep blooms from being so beige?
