Roy Rumsey.  The Best Roses of the Last Five Years.
Mister Lincoln has the same parents as 'Papa Meilland' ('Chrysler Imperial' x 'Charles Mallerin'). The dark red urn-shaped buds open to a deep bright red flower with good perfume. Growth is tall, strong and bushy.
Book  (1966)

p22 Roy and Heather Rumsey, NSW. New Roses.
Mister Lincoln HT. (Swim and Weeks) A lovely urn-shaped bud, high centred, and in a glowing shade of deep red. Good long strong stems support the flowers, which are borne singly, and are fragrant as well. Certainly an acquisition, as there is always room for another good red. A very good grower, but like all good dark reds it will get some mildew. ('Chrysler Imperial' x 'Charles Mallerin').

p112. Dr. A. S. Thomas. New Roses in Victoria.
Mister Lincoln, HT.  (Swim, 1964) 'Chrysler Imperial' x 'Charles Mallerin'. A fine dual-purpose rose with a good plant. It does not hold its form very long. Not as dark as 'Oklahoma' and 'Papa Meilland' - it is less prone to mildew than the latter. Fragrant. A.A.R.S. 1965.

p113. Dr. A. S. Thomas. New Roses in Victoria.
'Oklahoma' - fuller than 'Josephine Bruce', less mildew than 'Papa Meilland', darker than 'Mister Lincoln' and a little livelier in colour than 'Tassin' and 'Ellen Mary'.
