Beautiful creamy apricot with a hint of green on the petal edges. Petal substance is thick. No fragrance. Bush is spreading, very thorny. Blooms often during the spring and fall.

First season with this one, bought it on a whim and almost got mad at myself. Well, check myself because so far this one is a winner. In the talk here and I think advertising about this one is a lot regarding how it LOVES HEAT. Well, mid-90's here in Columbus today. 5 gorgeous blooms on this one DID NOT FLY OPEN, did NOT FRY in the heat. They look picture perfect.........basically all of my others either fried in place or flew open (granted, I grow mostly 1950-1980 mid centuries)...........Monroe did not even fade. Flipping through my mental rolodex of other "notable" apricots that I have grown-----Apricot Nectar, Oldtimer, Lolita, Medallion, Sunstruck.........NONE holds like this. Sunstruck might "hold" but it also discolors hideously turning spotted wan beige/green/pink in heat...........very VERY happy with Marilyn Monroe at the moment...........has definitely caught my saged attention..............

Is the size of this bush under the "Description" accurate? 9 ft wide is an enormous rose bush! Most of mine do fine with about 4 ft of space but I don't want to plant anything too close to her if she's going to be anywhere near that size.

Hi Penelope, Our Marilyn is very well behaved in her 4 foot space. I also question the 9 feet...maybe in a never cold climate? We have snow and medium long hard winters usually, so our roses do take a winter holiday.

Thank you, Penelope. I checked the patent and entered the plant habit size for both height and width.
I think we've got it right, now.

I bought this rose in 2006 on a whim. I never intended to get it because I thought the hot sun in Utah would fade its delicate color. However I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. I bought it to replace a "Brandy" rose. (Brandy was not winter hardy in my garden.) Marilyn Monroe is much hardier, however I still have to winter protect it. She doesnt mind the heat in the summer, thrives with regular water. The flowers fade to a greenish white though, and that isn't very attractive. However in the cool fall-WOW. The picture I uploaded is a fall bloom, you can see the nearly perfect color and form. So in brief, winter hardy with protection, tolerates dry heat well, best blooms are in the fall.
