Jessie Mould. Roses for a French Cottage Garden. ....there is a dwarf sport which grows only two feet high - 'Little White Pet' or 'Belle de Teheran' - an exact replica of 'Felicite et Perpetue' with the added attraction that she blooms all the year round.

In 1879, a long time after the introduction of Mrs Bosanquet and Hermosa, a dwarf rose appeared in the family of R. sempervirens-all the other offspring of this rose being rampant climbers. It has several names: Little White Pet, Belle of Teheran, and Little Dot [erroneous], the last name being the one used in New Zealand. It is the second name that conjures up delightful pictures of the Middle East, though Belle of Teheran never grew in Persia, France being the country of its origin. Its big clusters of small, tightly-packed, creamy flowers are exact replicas of those of its tall relative, Félicité et Perpétue.
