I have trouble capturing the color of this rose. ARS says it is deep red which it appears here in my photo, but it is more of a purple and ARS has no purple category to my recollection. There are few whole plant shots of this rose. This example is grown in ideal conditions, has large spread, is very floriferous, and the most highly scented rose I grow. I have another one that will have its first flush circa June 30 grown in full sun, but is not protected from wind like this one. The scent wafts into the ambient air as you walk by on still days. It is very hardy. Photo taken 6/8/2020, in Manchester, Iowa.
