Rosa zalana Wiesb. is a Central European species of Caninae rose found east of the Carpathian mountains from the Baltic to the Black Sea. It's a climbing rose and Vladimir Ježovič who photographed it near Šášov castle in central Slovakia commented Rosa zalana has "glandular leaves with special resinous scent" and indeed it does.
