Bred by Mathias Tantau (1882 - 1953) (Germany, 1928).
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Light yellow, pink edges.  Strong fragrance.  Medium, semi-double (9-16 petals), borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in small clusters, cupped bloom form.  Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  Large, long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Upright.  Dark green, dense foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Can be used for cut flower or garden.  Hardy.

Notes:
Professor Ewald Gnau (March 1, 1853 - January 5, 1943). Teacher at the Sangerhausen Gymasium 1884 - 1922, appointed Professor from 1902. One of the Founders of the Rosarium Sangerhausen, he became President of the German Rose Society in 1922.
