(a good source of information about the history of the rose) Alan Sinclair wrote Parts II and IV.
Part II covers detailed and practical information on what rose to plant where, including descriptions of growth habits and the size mature plants can be expected to reach. Part IV covers the practical aspects of planting, pruning, spraying and general care of roses throughout the year, season by season.
Rosemary Thodey has written Parts I and III dealing with the history and classification of old roses and ideas for using them in the garden with an eye for colour and suitable companion plants.
