[From The Royall River Roses Late Spring 1999 catalog, p. 53:] Generally the species roses and older roses of simple heritage will tolerate less than 4-6 hours of full sun. Roses in shady sites will be less prolific in growth and bloom and will become leggy as they reach for the sun, requiring more pruning. Shade-tolerant roses: 'Queen of Bourbons'
