Is this rose suitable for growing in a container?

Mine has been in a 7" pot since last year and is growing as if it was in the ground. While most roses will do OK in pots, I expect that this one will be exceptional.

Yes, this rose is one of those that loves being in the pot. I have it on my balcony for the last 3 years, and it is a winner! It is always 'popping corn', even on St. Nicholaus Day(12/06) ! It tolerates shade very well. It does have many tiny thorns, so wear gloves before you cut some flowers . . . ~KHAAS

GP grows great in low-light situations here in Silicon Valley, CA. I have a 36" tree
that I grow in a pot. It has a deliicate scent and it is always 'popping corn'! It is very
cute and reflects the lights at night on our patio. The leaves are slender & small
with many petite thorns.

I love my "gourmet popcorn" rose. It is nearly 2 ft high since planting last year. My problem regards pruning. I see they say to prune in the spring,(which i have done) ,but now it looks like amess with some canes long and others short. It is in full bloom though and otherwise looks great. Should I cut these long canes back to round out the shrub?

This little rose is happier with no pruning and it will make a nice low graceful bush. If you cut the long canes you will only be activating them into more growth which could make it look more uneven. I would wait until next spring and then really cut it back hard to a foot so that when it growsback it will look even and grow the way it is supposed to.
