New this season, has been blooming this past week. It looks like it's pictures (you know how sometimes, the colour doesn't match pictures, not the case here). It's pleasantly fragrant, unique colour for a hulthemia hybrid, appears healthy so far....still something about it doesn't enthuse me, it's not leaving me saying "wow". Maybe its the lack of maturity of my plant.

Health is a bit up and down in this long season with rains. Sometimes mostly defoliated but recovers.
I know that it can set hips and others have gotten seed from it, but for whatever reason has completely refused to set seed for me

I was at the R.H.S garden, Rosemoor today. I had been out looking for a quince tree for a friend's wedding present and the nursery there sells good quality plants. There were two big displays of this rose, 'Eyes For You' then almost exclusively roses raised by David Austin, and the few other varieties including some old garden roses, presented as "Grown by David Austin" as if they were raised by him as well. Rather unimaginative.

it does not grow up right, it is a bit lanky...
the flower is very unique, with beautiful purple "dot" on the bottom of each petal.
and the stamens are in good contrast with the purple.
the flowers blow up quickly (3 days).
the fragrance is like pepper, very spicy. and the intensity is very changable, some times is very strong, some times almost nothing at all...

"Controlled pollination: ‘PEJBIGEYE’ was the resultant seedling from the cross between two
unnamed seedlings in June 2004 The seedling was first selected from a population of seedlings later
that year based on flower colour"

This makes the interpretation of the lineage, stated in the notes, likely to be incorrect. It probably has 'Blue for You" and CHEWtingle in it somewhere but not directly. It also states 'Eyes for You' is a 2004 seedling.

If 'Eyes For You' PEJbigeye was a 2004 seedling and which had 'Tiger Eyes' CHEWtingle somewhere in its parentage,
that would make 'Tiger Eyes' bred earlier than 2004 (It was introduced in South Africa in 2005)
Have I got that straight?

Maybe... it has been suggested to me that maybe 'Blue for You' and CHEWtingle were unnamed seedlings at the time the parentage was recorded, though the patent doc. was published in 2014 when both roses had been registered and given distinct names. So I don't know what is going on to be honest.
