[From A Heritage of Roses, by Hazel Le Rougetel, p. 24:] Hovey's Cambridge Nurseries catalog of 1845 included the following: 301 Gallicas (125 self-coloured or shaded varieties, 176 marbled, spotted, striped or variegated), 16 Provence (Cabbage) Roses, 50 Hybrid Provence Roses (described as a Class containing very fine roses of beautiful form and delicate colours, well adapted for showing), 101 Moss Roses, 29 Damask Roses, and 21 Alba Roses.
