Chas. F. Evans was a florist who sold greenhouse roses. He famously entered into a contract with Henry Bennett of London to sell only the flowers of 'William F. Bennett," de-eying every stem so that the rose could not be propagated by others. See the series of articles describing Chas. F. Evans's purchase of 'William F.
