Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1876 as 'Deuil de Paul Fontaine'.

Dark purple, red shading. Moderate fragrance. up to 50 petals. Average diameter 4.75". Large, very full (41+ petals), cupped bloom form. Occasional repeat later in the season. Mossed buds.

Habit:

Armed with thorns / prickles, upright. Light green foliage.

Height: 3' to 4' (90 to 120cm). Width: up to 3' (up to 90cm).
