On January 1, 1515, François, Duc d'Angoulême, succeeded Louis XII as François I of France. Some sources say 'Duc d'Angoulême' and 'Duchesse d'Angoulême' are the same rose, some don't. Marie-Thérèse-Charlotte de France, Madame Royale, the Duchesse d'Angoulême, first child of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, was born 19 December 1778 and died 19 October 1851.
