Bred by Agnes & Elbert S. Carman (United States, 1886).
Class:
Hybrid Rugosa, Shrub.  
Bloom:
Crimson.  Moderate fragrance.  30 to 35 petals.  Large, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, climbing.  Wrinkled (rugose) foliage.  

Height: up to 5' (up to 150cm).  Width: up to 5' (up to 150cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Hardy.  can be trained as a climber.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Dedicated to Agnes Emily M. Brown (November 19, 1852 Brooklyn, Kings, NY - February 11, 1941), who in 1873 married E.S. Carman
There are different reports of whether Agnes Carman herself, or Elbert Carman with the "assistance of his wife" bred this rose.
