Bernard or Pompon Perpetual, is a most beautiful rose, with rather small flowers; but these are very double and finely-shaped, of a delicate carmine tinted with salmon, and very fragrant. This rose will flourish better on the Boursault stock than on the Dog Rose: this is a true perpetual, and a most desirable rose.

In July last, I, in company with my employer, went to Sawbridgeworth, to see Mr. Rivers' collection in bloom, and the list which I subjoin are what we purchased to add to an already tolerably good collection.... Damask Perpetual. Crimson ! ! ! Bernard ! ! All the Roses in this list are excellent, but those marked with notes of exclamation are the best, and the notes are increased in number in proportion to their superior claims. —W.P.
