p30-4 Mrs. H. R. Darlington. Scent in Modern Roses. The following list of Roses does not pretend to be comprehensive. With the exception of 'Barbara Richard', all the varieties I have named are growing in our garden…….

p30-5 It is noticeable that 'Barbara Richards' is the first Rose, of which the prevailing colour is yellow, to possess the old Rose or Damask fragrance. It received the award of the R.H.S. and the N.R.S. in 1930 for being the best Rose of the year with the desired quality of “old Rose scent”.

p114-4 Herbert Cowley, Roses at the Summer Show: Only two Gold Medals were awarded to new Roses, Viz: 'Barbara Richards' (Alex. Dickson & Sons) and….. Both of these Roses are likely to become warm favourites. 'Barbara Richards' is a creamy blush, with a soft yellow shade in the centre, and sweetly scented.

p115-1 …..Jubilee, cream coloured, deeper in the centre, somewhat like Barbara Richards,

p128-4 F. W. Alesworth. The Autumn Show: Mention must be made of The Clay Challenge Vase, awarded for the best scented seedling Rose of the year. It was won by Messrs. Alex. Dickson & Sons Ltd., of Belfast, with 'Barbara Richards', a delightfully fragrant Hybrid Tea of Exhibition size and splendid form. The colouring is maize-yellow with buff reverse, washed and flushed with pale rose.

p183. 'Barbara Richards'. (H.T.) Raised by Messrs. Alex Dickson & Sons Ltd., Newtownards, Co., Down. A Rose that promises well, both for exhibition and garden purposes. The blooms are large and well formed. Colour soft buff, shaded with a pink sheen. Fragrant. The habit of growth is vigorous, and the plants I have seen were free of mildew.
