Bred by Samuel Darragh (1932-2019) McGredy IV (1974).
Introduced in New Zealand by McGredy Roses International (New Zealand) in 1978 as 'Otago'.
Class:
Miniature.  
Bloom:
Orange or orange-red.  Strong fragrance.  35 petals.  Double (17-25 petals), high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:

Height: 10" to 1' (25 to 30cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

Member Tomartyr writes: "Otago (pronounced oh-tah-goh, with emphasis on the middle syllable) is a large region in the southern part of New Zealand. It was a phonetic interpretation of the dialectical pronunciation by contemporary local Maori in the 1840s of the name of a prominent coastal settlement which, under standardised spelling, is now known on maps as Otakou."
