'Caroline de Rosny' rose Description

Bloom:
Light pink, darker reverse. [Pink, lilac shading.]. Green button eye. Strong, centifolia, tea fragrance. Average diameter 3". Medium to large, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters, flat to cupped, reflexed bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Ovoid buds.
Habit:
Compact, upright. Dark green foliage. 3 to 7 leaflets.
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Notes:
'Carolina imperialis' is possibly a distinct cultivar.
According to the 1845 reference, this cultivar was named 'Caroline de Rosny' until the July revolution of 27-29 July 1830, when King Charles X fled to Britain. It was renamed 'Caroline' on August 7, 1830 when the Chamber of Deputies declared Louis-Philippe I as "Roi des Français". "Caroline de Rosny" was Marie-Caroline Ferdinanda Luise de Bourbon-Two Sicilies (November 5, 1798 Caserta - April 16, 1870 Brunnsee, Austria). She married Charles Ferdinand, the Duke of Berry on April 24, 1816 and was then known as Duchesse de Berry or Madame de Berry. She went into exile with King Charles X.
