Bred by Jean-Baptiste André (fils) Guillot (1827-1893) (France, 1859).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1863 as 'Louis XIV'.

Bloom:
Dark red.  Strong fragrance.  Medium to large, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

USDA zone 7b through 10b.  Shade tolerant.
