Amy Johnson was a pioneer aviator who, in 1930, achieved the feat of flying solo to Australia. The proceeds from the sale of 'Amy Johnson' were donated to the National Rose Society of Victoria. The rose produced flowers right into winter and some references hint at R. gigantea blood in its background. Robert Peace in Victoria, was instrumental in bringing this rose back into the nurseries.
