Eric Timewell: ....Elaine White was the pioneer presenter in Australia of women's shows on television. "Home and Beauty" appeared every afternoon on Channel Nine at 3.30. When in 1959 he [Riethmuller] called a multiflora hybrid after her, everyone in Sydney knew who she was and could guess, correctly, that the rose was white.

Most [roses] survived because Elsie took them to Toowoomba….At this point it became all too easy for her to leave behind the humiliation of those roses dedicated to women. At least seven Riethmuller roses of all sorts ‘Elaine White’ and…. disappeared from view, in most cases never to be seen again.
