Bred by C. W. Heyde (Australia, before 1953).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1953 as 'Captain Watkins'.
Class:
Polyantha.  
Bloom:
Pink.  Cochineal carmine with white centre.  None to mild fragrance.  30 petals.  Average diameter 1.75".  Cluster-flowered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Short, few or no prickles/thorns.  Medium green foliage.  

Height: 20" (50cm).  Width: 39" (100cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Notes:
Frank Vernon Watkins (21 March 1922 – 20 December 1942) was an officer of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) during the Second World War. He was killed in air operations trying to save a close comrade and for this action was recommended for the Victoria Cross. He ultimately received only a posthumous Mention in Despatches.
