'Lac La Nonne' rose Description
Bloom:
Pink. Strong fragrance. Semi-double (9-16 petals) bloom form.
Growing:
USDA zone 2b and warmer. Very hardy.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Parentage unclear. See References. Percy H. Wright reported "presumably Hansa by Rosa acicularis, while another reference describes the parentage as R. rugosa plena x Rosa acicularis. Bugnet himself called this rose Rugabland No. 1, so it is quite possible that the pollen parent was Rosa blanda
Bugnet wrote to Percy Wright that "The ancestry of Lac La Nonne is (R. rugosa, var. kamtchatica x wild native rose) x R. rugosa flora plena."
Correspondence between Bugnet and Percy Wright, found in the University of Saskatchewan library, indicates the Rugosa parent is Rugosa flore plena, and that is the parentage HelpMeFind shows.
