Bred by Robert Hunter Mattock (United Kingdom, before 1961).
Introduced in United Kingdom by John Mattock, The Rose Nurseries in 1961 as 'Hunter'.
Class:
Hybrid Rugosa, Shrub.  
Bloom:
Red to deep pink, fuchsia / magenta shading.  Strong fragrance.  up to 44 petals.  Average diameter 2.75".  Medium, very full (41+ petals), in small clusters, rosette bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Arching, armed with thorns / prickles.  Semi-glossy, dark green foliage.  

Height: 4' to 5' (120 to 150cm).  Width: 3' to 4' (90 to 120cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b and warmer.  Drought resistant.
