Origin:
Introduced in United Kingdom by William Paul & Son in circa 1894 as ' Rosa palustris var. nuttalliana hort. ex Rehder'.
Bloom:
Violet - pink. Mild fragrance. Average diameter 2.5". Medium to large, single (4-8 petals) bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Habit:
Arching, armed with thorns / prickles, bushy, sends out runners, well-branched. Matte foliage. 5 to 7 leaflets.
Height: up to 6'7" (up to 200cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Produces decorative hips.

Notes:
This rose is sometimes labeled Rosa palustris wuttalliana, an apparent misspelling of Rosa palustris nuttalliana. This form of R. palustris is named for British plant explorer Thomas Nuttall, who identified hundreds of species of North American plants in the first decades of the the 19th century.
