Does this rose have spinossisima black hips?

An interesting question. I've added more references but nothing about the hips is mentioned. No hips are visible in any of the HelpMeFind photos. Do any members have a photo of 'Karl Förster's hips?

I ran your question past Peter Boyd. He has replied: " 'Karl Forster' is a complex hybrid involving the Asian R. spinosissima - it has nothing to do with Scots Roses!" I am guessing therefore the hips will not be black.

The true Scots Roses are cultivars of Rosa spinosissima (syn. R. pimpinellifolia) and some hybrids of the species that have similar character.
Hmm. Well, that is true, turns out. But the black fruit trait IS passed down to complex hybrids, like Beauty of Leafland http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.88205
Shame HMF can't search by hip color. Once my premium money order gets cashed in, I will try a search along the lines of lineage w/ spin. And decorative hips.

Karl Forster may get a little black spot but he just ignores it and keeps flowering and growing. He has enough vigour so that the black spot doesn't effect him. However in some areas (mine for one) he doesn't get any disease.

I get one good flush and then only a few scattered afterwards. I wouldn't call him a good bloomer in the PNW.

Yes you do get the delicate foliage. In my garden it is a little darker green than my other Spinosissimas.

Please note we do list the name as 'Karl Foerster' but it is also sold under the name 'Karl Förster' so we include that synonym. Thank you for the reference.

>also sold under the name 'Karl Förster' so we include that synonym. o.K. - but it is still there: "Registration name: Karl Förster" and this is definitely wrong! LG Rsenfee

The correct name is 'Karl Foerster', but the rose is registered in the ARS databank as 'Karl Förster'. We cannot modify this registration.
