Origin:
Bred by Jacques Lebougre (France, before 1849).
Introduced in France by Désiré Thomas in 1849 as 'Baronne Hallez de Claparède'.
Introduced in Australia by Evandale Nursery in circa 1860 as 'Baronne Hallez de Claparède'.
Class:
Damask Perpetual, Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Cerise, purple shading, light purple reverse.  Strong fragrance.  Medium, very double, globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Leafy sepals buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles.  Large, semi-glossy, dark green foliage.  5 to 7 leaflets.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Hardy.

Notes:
