Bred by Dr. Dennison H. Morey (United States, before 1961).
Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. (Newark, NY) in 1961 as 'King's Ransom'.
Introduced by Unknown (Australia) in 1962 as 'King's Ransom'.
Introduced in France by Vilmorin-Andrieux in 1962 as 'King'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Golden-yellow.   (Jaune de chrome).  Strong fragrance.  35 to 50 petals.  Very large, very full (41+ petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  

Glossy foliage.  

Height: 30" to 5' (75 to 150cm).  

USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .  Can be grown in the ground or in a container (container requires winter protection).
