C'est à BRUANT, de Poitiers, qu'échut la gloire de nous presenter le premier hybride de R. rugosa : Mme Georges Bruant, lancée en 1887, fit sensation. D'un beau blanc éclatant, semi-double, large, parfumée, un bouton allongé, d'une grande vigueur, cette variété issue de R. rugosa X Sombreuil, connut un énorme succès, égalé seulement, en 1892, par un apport de COCHET-COCHET : blanc double de Coubert, à très grande fleur blanc pur, presque double, variété issue d'un semis de R. rugosa alba.

Madame Georges Bruant. (Bruant, 1887.) Large, loosely formed flowers of waxy white, fragrant, and produced in bunches. Plant moderately strong and blooms continuously.
Very fragile and delicate flowers of the thin, creamy texture peculiar to Tea Roses. A good Rose for massing in the shrubbery and in the border around the Rose-garden.
