'Naga Belle ™' rose Reviews & Comments

I was wondering if this rose is very disease resistant - especially to blackspot? Also - does this rose bloom a lot like Carefree Beauty its parent or more like a Hybrid Tea? Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

I can't answer your question. My garden doesn't offer conditions favorable to Black Spot. I would guess Naga Belle to be much better than average in terms of disease resistance based on it's lineage. It blooms more like a HT.

Naga Belle shows excellent resistance to Black Spot. I live in a very hot and humid section of North Carolina. I do not spray and Naga Belle thrives and has frequent flushes of beautiful, deep pink hybrid tea shaped blooms that last well on plant and in the vase. She blooms more than any other rose in my garden which consists mostly of G. Buck roses and a few tea roses.

It's true. I have several roses with blackspot, some have it badly, but Naga Belle has *zero* blackspot!!!! I think this rose is very disease resistant.

I received a message from the breeder, and he said Naga Belle will get to be 5 feet tall and about 4 feet wide (in India's climate) and received a email from Roses Unlimited and in So. Carolina it gets about 6 ft. tall by 4 ft. wide. This info comes in handy when trying to decide where in the garden to plant it!

Well - I haven't planted her in the ground yet (I will this Fall) and she's been in a pot for a couple months now - and even in the high temps and humidity the blooms keep coming and the color is a very beautiful warm pink. I can tell Naga Belle is a very good rose.

I have a question. Usually because of my clay soil, even if ammended somewhat, the only roses that do real well planted in the ground here are teas, chinas and Earthkind roses. I know that Naga Belle is part species rose, but, under the circumstances of my soil - would it be better to grow Naga Belle in a large pot?

Carlene, I think you could try 'Naga Belle', in the ground, especially if your soil is amended.
I've got her in the ground here in CA's low desert and she's doing great with no special attention. Like all own-roots, she takes awhile to get established if you're starting with a small specimen
Of course you might want to put her in a pot till she gains some size then plant her out in the ground later. That's worked well for me in the past.
Worst case scenario you could always take her up if she doesn't do well in the ground and stick her in a pot again later. I move stuff back and forth all the time.
