Origin:
Bred by Charles Turner (United Kingdom, circa 1869).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1876 as 'Lord Napier'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Fuchsia / magenta and carmine-red.  Medium, double (17-25 petals), high-centered bloom form.  
Growing:
USDA zone 4a through 5b.  Vigorous.

Notes:
Some later writers attribute this rose to Wm. Paul, but he does not list it as one of his roses in his The Rose Garden, and the earliest references clearly reference Turner as the raiser. See References.
