Admiral Rodney Description. A Hybrid Tea raised by Basildon Rose Gardens and introduced by Warley Rose Gardens in 1973.
Book  (1978)  Page(s) 121.

Dr. A. S. Thomas, Victoria.  Some Of The New Ones.
Admiral Rodney has arrived already as a superb show rose of soft pink colouring but unfortunately its flowers are too big for good flower arranging and the plant is of below average standard. I saw these two roses for the first time in London and some country gardens in 1973.
Book  (1978)  Page(s) 104.

We have in Britain at the moment a wonderful exhibition rose named 'Admiral  Rodney', light pink with a suggestion of lilac; very large, very beautiful, sweetly scented, and let me say, not so weakly as some I could mention. Now suppose a plate-sized flower of 'Admiral Rodney' should be shown, with its perfect heart, and against it poor little 'Rose Gaujard' with its split centre: the judges will think they had an easy task, as they stick the First Prize ticket on 'Admiral Rodney',  and we will admit they have chosen the more beautiful flower.  But let them think again.  The one is naturally large, the other naturally smaller...

Dr. A. S. Thomas, Victoria.  Some New Ones.
Admiral HT. (Warleigh Rose Gardens, 1973). Parentage unknown. It is essentially an exhibitor's rose as a specimen bloom. Blooms fairly early. It has very soft pink colouring resembling that of 'Lady Luck' but the stems are not as long and there are many more petals. I prefer 'Lady Luck' as a general purpose rose.
Book  (1976)  Page(s) 139.

Dr. A. S. Thomas, Victoria.  Vintage New Cultivars.
Admiral Rodney HT. (Trew 1973). Parentage not given. Big, perfectly formed light pink blooms with a tint of mauve as in 'Lady Luck and 'Susan Lotthé'. About 35 petals. Bushy growth. A wonderful show rose. Some may regard it as too big as a cut flower. When seen first in Britain it was labelled 'Admiral Lord Rodney'.
Book  (1975)  Page(s) 105.

Dr. A. S. Thomas.  Some of the New Ones.
I saw 'Admiral Lord Rodney', as it was labelled only once. It is registered as 'Admiral Rodney'.
Book  (1974)  Page(s) 62.

Dr. A. S. Thomas  Roses Overseas 1973.
Admiral Lord Rodney, HT. I saw this rose only once, a very fine bowl of it at the R.N.R.S. Summer Show. It has beautiful form with about 35 petals. Its colour is mauvish-pink resembling that of 'Lady Luck' and deeper than 'Suzon Lotthe'. I can find no record of the raiser or the year for distribution of this very good new rose.
