Bred by Peter Lambert (Germany, 1898).
Introduced in Australia by George Austen and Co. in 1900 as 'Baldwin'.
Introduced in United States by Dingee & Conard 1900 Archive in 1902 as 'Helen Gould'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Crimson to carmine-red.  Strong fragrance.  Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, old-fashioned bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Upright, well-branched.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Hardy.  vigorous.

Notes:
Not to be confused with de Ruiter's dwarf polyantha introduced 1955.
