The Hybrid Musk and Other Hybrids.
These Roses are hardy, and, with the exception of "Clair", vigorous growers, suited only for Climbers. "Madame d'Arblay" and "The Garland" partake of the nature of the Musk Rose, although possessing but little of its peculiar odour: they are prodigious growers, forming shoots fifteen feet long in one year, and of great stoutness, throwing one hundred or more flowers in a single truss.
9. The Garland; flowers fawn colour when in bud, opening nearly white, produced in large trusses, of medium size, double; form, expanded. Raised by Mr. Wells of Redleaf.

[Amongst climbing roses, we know of none better suited for our fair correspondent's purpose than the following :— Sempervirens.—The Garland and Felicite perpetuel. Noisettes.—Fellemberg, La Biche, and La Marque. Ayrshire.—Ruga and Dundee Rambler. Boursault.—Elegans.] Is there any sort of beehive preferable to the old straw hive? I would rather not kill my bees next autumn. If some of your correspondents would give a little information on this subject, they would greatly oblige. A Lacemaker.
Book  (1847)  Page(s) 276.

Garland is a most vigorous hybrid climber, blooming in immense clusters of fragrant creamy-white flowers, changing to blush after expansion. When in full bloom, the contrast of the large white clusters with the bright green foliage is very beautiful.
Book  (1844)  Page(s) 23-24.

Hybrid Climbing Roses.
Garland is a pretty white, producing its flowers in clusters, containing frequently from seventy-five to one hundred, forming a conical corymb of about sixteen inches in diameter, the whole plant appearing in the distance like a pagoda of snow interspersed with foliage of the brightest green; the growth is very rapid, making ten to twelve feet in a season.
Magazine  (1 Oct 1838)  Page(s) 227.

Hybrid Climbing Roses.
These are hardy and strong growing roses, the origin of some of them not well ascertained. [...]
The Garland, or Wood's Garland, is also a seedling, raised by Mr. Wells of Redleaf, I believe, from the seed of the Noisette Rose. Like Madame d'Arblay, this is a vigorous grower, producing its flowers in immense clusters. These are fragrant, and change from white to pink after expansion.
