Origin:
Bred by Eugène Verdier fils aîne (France, 1878).
Introduced in Australia by C. F. Newman and Sons - Adelaide in 1894 as 'Madame Alphonse Lavallée'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Dark red, white veining, salmon-orange shading.  Cherry red, strongly veined white, shaded dawn.  None / no fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  
Habit:
Light green foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Notes:
There is no indication that Mme Alphonse Lavallée is a synonym of 'Marie Baumann'. Jäger, who in his "Rosenlexikon", sets an equal sign, has used the same to denote similarity in rose cultivars. More indicative is that he has two compketely different descriptions for both.
