Notes:
Jäger, in his "Rosenlexikon" points out to a similarity with 'Franziska Krüger' - see References.
Pierre Guillot states that 'Franciska Krüger' is a descendant of 'Safrano'.- see References. 'Mlle Franziska Krüger' was sown as a mixed batch of seeds in 1873 and introduced 1879 according to the "Journal des Roses" (1888). As 'General Schablikine' is dated 1878 or 1879, the parentage 'Catherine Mermet' x 'General Schablikine' is rather unlikely. "Rosenlexikon" states 'Grand Duc Héritier Guillaume de Luxembourg' by Soupert & Notting (1892), as = to 'Mlle Franziska Krüger'. However, Jäger often uses the = sign to denote similar roses, not only synonyms. The L'Hay catalogue of 1902 and the Soupert & Notting catalogue of 1907/08 lists both roses independently.
