Bred by Antoine Levet (père) (France, 1878).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1882 as 'Reine Marie Henriette'.

Bloom:
Cherry-red, ages to fuchsia / magenta.  Cherry-red.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Climbing, few or no prickles/thorns.  Dark green foliage.  

Height: 12' (365cm).  Width: 8' (245cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .
