Bred by W. Kordes & Sons (Germany, 1988).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Samuel McGredy and Son, Nurserymen (Northern Ireland) as 'Bassino'.
Class:

Bloom:
Red, golden-yellow stamens.  None / no fragrance.  Average diameter 1.25".  Small, single (4-8 petals), cluster-flowered, cupped-to-flat, ruffled bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Short, spreading.  Small, glossy, dense foliage.  

Height: up to 1' (up to 30cm).  Width: 3' to 4' (90 to 120cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for container rose, garden, ground cover or landscape.  Produces decorative hips.  Remove spent blooms to encourage re-bloom.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Remove unproductive wood every third year or so.

Apuldram's Roses say this rose is a prostrate ground cover with scarlet flowers that cover the whole plant throughout the summer...
Heirloom Old Garden Roses says Suffolk has large clusters of single, bright red blooms with golden centers...
